1. What Rectify is

Rectify is an iOS application that lets you record defects in a property, attach photographs and notes to them, and generate a dated PDF report you can issue to a developer, contractor or solicitor.

Rectify records what you observe. It does not inspect anything itself, it does not assess whether a defect is structural, and it does not judge who is responsible for one. It is not a substitute for a professional building inspection, an architect, an engineer or a lawyer.

2. Not legal advice

Rectify is built around the handover process used in Malaysia, including the defect liability period under the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 1989. Any dates, deadlines or periods the app calculates are conveniences based on the information you enter.

They are not legal advice and are not a guarantee. The rights and time limits that actually apply to you depend on your sale and purchase agreement and your circumstances. If something turns on a deadline, confirm it with your solicitor.

3. Your content belongs to you

The defects, photographs, notes and reports you create in Rectify are yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence over them.

They are stored on your device. We do not receive them, cannot read them, and cannot recover them for you — see the Privacy Policy. Keeping your own backups is your responsibility.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Rectify to record or distribute anything unlawful, and not to represent a Rectify report as a professional inspection report, a certificate, or a document issued by anyone other than yourself.

5. Purchases

Some features are paid. Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms. We never see your payment details.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and are managed in your Apple account settings, not in the app. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

6. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Rectify, and may update these terms. Where a change materially affects you, we will note it on this page and change the date above.

7. No warranty, and the limit of our liability

Rectify is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a report it generates will be accepted by any developer, contractor or authority.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for any claim arising from a defect you did not record, a deadline you missed, or a report that was rejected. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
